What Is Linguano

What is Linguano?

Linguano is a conlang for Latin or Romance language.

What does it mean?

It has two or more sets of vocabulary:

1. Latin based Vocabulary (Nominative-based)

Example: rēx, rex > rēxo, rexo

2. Latin based Vocabulary (Accusative-based)

Example: regem > rego

3. Latin based Vocabulary (Mixed or Modified)

Example: pēs, pedem > pesdo

4. Vulgar Latin based Vocabulary (Latin spelling)

Example: tripaliare > tripaliar

5. Romance Concensus based Vocabulary (Modern spelling)

Example:

lo amor

la parola

la casa

lo leto, lo lato

la nota

mangiar

6. Specific Romance based Vocabulary (per varian)

Example:

In French we use "mot" (word) > moto

We can even truncate the final vowel and consonant when necessary to increae understandibility. (Mot, mo)

These vocabulary sets are used as synonyms and can be used liberally according to preference or practical need of the speaker.

How about the grammar?

The grammar uses a made grammar mostly based on Romance grammars sometimes with some English sensibilities.

What is it for?

It has several uses:

1. To help us getting used to Latin (Classical and Medieval) with a uniformed declensions and conjugation. It is like a mirror language to baby step ourselves before learning Latin properly while helping us by understanding some similar grammatical points and vocabulary.

2. To help us getting used to Romance languages before learning a real one properly.

3. To help us communicate with a native Romance speaker when traveling. Although, perfect intelligibility is impossible as each Romance language has its own set of vocabulary and nuance that might be different. Usually, context does help.

Does it aim as a universally understandble language?

No. Universal intellegibility among real Romance languages is also impossible. What we can do is supplant the choice of words to the specific vocabulary of a Romance language to boost the mutual understanding. Although, the accent and pronunciation might differ to the real language. So, there is no perfect communication in just using Linguano to non-speakers.
